Sculptures For Sale
A Joyful Exchange: SOLD
3 ft
One morning, a few summers ago, I was meditating on the deck. I happened to be wearing a bright red shirt. All of a sudden I heard a loud buzzing in front of me. I opened my eyes and there was a hummingbird looking straight at me, with a seeming intimacy. It then flew to my ear…such a sound! Meditation can certainly bring its magical moments.

Shakti Moon Goddess: SOLD
6 ft
In Indian mythology, shakti stands for power, force, feminine energy and the fundamental creative instinct that energizes the universe. On the earthly plane, shakti energy manifests itself in acts of creation. I have inlaid 50 pieces of red glass down the middle (red = shakti). All the phases of the moon are carved in her hair, representing the feminine. This sculpture was done for a show called Raising Shakti, Restoring Balance.

The Negotiating Table: $4200
5 ft
This sculpture examines our unwillingness to fully realize our current environmental crisis. Repeated efforts are made by corporate and government entities to negotiate the rights of Earth, or Gaia. Gaia herself is now at The Negotiating Table, refusing to compromise any more of herself and/or her creation. The table is clear acrylic, to give transparency of the situation.

Gaia: Climate Change Series: $3000
Cyclone, Flood, Ice Melt
68” 72” 65” (height includes stand)
These three Mother Earth figures are a contemplation of climate change and its attendant environmental and societal disasters. Unlike the famous Venus of Willendorf, whose voluptuous figure personifies abundance and fertility, these sculptures offer a contrary vision. Depleted, emaciated and burdened with deep sorrow, they mirror the destructive nature of our excessive life-styles. Through figuratively personifying our environmental predicament, I hope to capture the fragile nature of Gaia and present the urgency and physical necessity of achieving balance across the divides of spiritual-physical and sacred-profane.

Majestic Moose: $1400
3 ft x 21”
I have yet to see a moose, though I often head off to Algonquin to do so. Every description I have ever heard includes the word majestic. As such, I have given it a very regal quality.
Moose is a symbol of being headstrong, longevity, wisdom, confidence, self-esteem, primal feminine energy and steadfastness.

Third Eye: SOLD
2 ft long x 1.5 ft high
This piece was influenced by a sculpture I bought in Egypt, a place infused with magic and mystery. I wanted to create something that would be a vessel for energy, which could tap into the collective subconscious. To look into the third eye, the viewer becomes part of the piece, and thereby completes it. Every time someone looks into her, there is an exchange of energy. At that moment she becomes alive.
The hollowed out head symbolizes the idea of having an open mind, spacious and infinite. The mirrors protect the viewer as they serve to ward off any evil spirits.

Breaking the Chains: $3600
4.5 ft
A woman I worked with on a newspaper assembly line inspired this sculpture. What kept me going through the monotony of that factory job was listening to her life story - from her dysfunctional childhood to her newfound independence as a woman. Although she endured a childhood of unpredictability, hardships, and endless struggles and appeared on the outside to be hard as stone, she possessed an uncanny optimism for life. Her sheer determination and faith enabled her to build a home for herself and her three children. This determination also included the will to break the chains of her past and give her own children a life filled with love and protection. Her words inspired me to carve her. If you look closely, you can see hands in her hair that are protecting her three little ones. The piece does not exaggerate the fierce willpower that she possessed.

Eden Revisited: $12,000
7 ft 8 "
The story of Adam and Eve bothers me. It paints a bleak picture of Woman’s role in the formation of Human. Worse than that, the bleakness of the picture derives from its partialness, from the parts that seem edited out of the story. The insights of writer Joseph Campbell and others who take a more radical approach to religion and myth, enable an alternate, fully-fleshed interpretation of this infamous story; one in which the interaction of Eve and the serpent is vested with new significance: Human’s consciousness, awareness and essential duality (spiritual-physical, sacred-profane) springs forth from this interaction. We became beautifully, boundlessly Human because of their relationship.
