Goddess
Medium: Butternut
12ft high

This female goddess figure is one of my favourites.  It was done for an incredible woman who was turning 60.  She is an ex-nun and has now taken on a feminist/humanist perspective toward spirituality.

The piece has three circles in it symbolic of the three stages of the female – maiden, mother and crone.  As she is entering into her last stage of life she is being liberated from her earthly roles, hence the butterfly that has cocooned and is now ready to take flight.
